These fabrics are printed using hand-carved wooden blocks, with each block representing a part of the overall design. Each colour is applied in a separate pass, aligned by eye and by hand with a precision honed through experience. Kardo works with master printers in Rajasthan, notably Anokhi and Titanwala, and often uses natural dyes for their depth and warmth. As the fabric is printed, the colours soak into the fibres themselves, so that the pattern becomes an integral part of the fabric’s character, blending as naturally as the weave around it.
